Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)

Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport have introduced a voluntary cross-carrier transfer service that allows passengers to rebook flights inside the secure area while their checked baggage is transferred simultaneously, enhancing convenience for frequent and business travelers.

Launched on Dec 22 under the guidance of civil aviation authorities, the service is jointly operated by the two airports with China Eastern Airlines, Air China, Juneyao Air, and Xiamen Airlines, marking a first for domestic airports.

Passengers traveling on Hongqiao-Jiangbei flights operated by the four airlines, holding economy-class fares at 60 percent or above — including Premium Economy and Business Class within the same cabin level — are eligible.

Eligible travelers may switch to another participating carrier's flight on the same route within four hours before or after the original departure time, with the first ticket change free of charge.

For designated cabins — China Eastern M and above, Air China B and above, Juneyao Air M and above, and Xiamen Airline Y and above — no fare difference applies, subject to airline policies.

Hongqiao Airport has set up dedicated service points inside the secure area. Once a transfer request is submitted, airport teams coordinate cross-carrier baggage transfers, ensuring seamless alignment of passengers and their checked luggage.

The Hongqiao-Jiangbei fast line is a key air corridor connecting the Yangtze River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing regions. It operates about 32 round-trip flights daily and is expected to carry over 1.83 million passengers this year.
