Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)

Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

AVINEX signs duty-free concession deals to boost openness and retail quality
Released:2025-12-22

On Dec 17, Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX) signed concession-transfer contracts for duty-free shops at Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports, launching a new operating model featuring a domestic leader and an international giant to upgrade retail offerings.

Attendees included AVINEX Chairman Feng Xin, President Zhou Hao and Vice-president Song Xuefeng; China Tourism Group Chairman Fan Yunjun and General Manager Chang Zhujun; and Avolta executives Vijay Talwar and Freda Cheung.

AVINEX signed with China Tourism Group for duty-free operations at Pudong Terminals 2 and S2, and at Hongqiao Terminal 1, while Avolta secured concessions for Pudong Terminals 1 and S1.

China Tourism Group, the country's largest duty-free operator, partners with more than 1,500 brands. Switzerland-based Avolta operates 5,100 outlets in 70-plus countries and will be the first global travel-retail foreign operator in mainland airports.

In October, five ministries issued guidance relaxing duty-free rules to boost consumption. AVINEX will expand product ranges, promote domestic brands, add online pre-order pickup points, and attract overseas spending back to Shanghai.

From January to November, Pudong and Hongqiao airports handled 124 million passengers, up 8.5 percent year-on-year, with 37.974 million entry-exit travelers, up 19.5 percent. Rising traffic should spur retail sales and support high-quality hub development.
